Benefits of Hospital-Based Detox

Alcohol and drug use can have long-term, harmful effects on the entire body.  It can negatively impact major organ systems including the central nervous system, chemicals in the brain, and even basic functions.  Because of this, there are a number of medical conditions that often coincide with alcohol and drug abuse. These conditions often times aren’t revealed until the patient is abstinent.  Being a hospital-based detox center, we have immediate access to hospital-grade support for varying conditions, making it the safest place for any patient that could potentially have a high-risk detox.  People that are at increased risk for complications, who have complex medical conditions, or are of older age are best served in a hospital-based detox setting. Withdrawal symptoms vary from person to person, and some withdrawal syndromes can be dangerous. Medical supervision ensures that each client is safe, stable, and receiving appropriate treatment at a moment’s notice.  We have immediate availability of emergency services including the Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Cath lab, IV fluids, and IV medications. We receive rapid results for blood and urine testing, EKG/ cardiac monitoring, and diagnostic imaging.  We are also able to provide Physical Therapy services for those who may be experiencing gait instability or have suffered from falls.

Common medical conditions that may co-occur with substance abuse and/or withdrawal are:

Withdrawal from substance abuse can be uncomfortable, dangerous, and potentially life-threatening.  It is vital that the safety and care of the patient during this time is of the utmost importance. We provide the highest level of safety and comfort in a hospital-based detox setting with personalized attention to each patient. Our 24/7 medical supervision ensures that each patient is stable and safe and is receiving the appropriate medical treatment at each step along the way.

What does a typical day look like at your facility?

Patients will receive a wellness menu upon arrival at the facility to select daily wellness and healing sessions that fit their individual needs. They will go through each wellness option with the addiction physician and recovery coach to choose which wellness sessions are best suited for the individual. They will receive breakfast, lunch, and dinner from our gourmet menu. Each day is customized and handpicked specifically for each patient to best meet the needs of the patient.   A typical day could look like the following: 8am Breakfast 9am Guided Morning meditation with Recovery Coach 10am BioFeedback Therapy 12pm Energy Healing Session 1:30pm Lunch 3pm SMART Recovery journaling with Recovery Coach 4pm Psychotherapist Session 6pm Dinner 8pm Movie in Wellness lounge

How long will the detox process take?

The length of time needed for detox is highly variable depending on several factors including what substance the patient is using, how long they have been using, and the quantity they are using. It can also vary based on any medical complications. We do not discharge any patient until the medical and wellness staff agrees that a patient is stable and ready. Because we are a private pay facility, the length of stay is determined by the progress of the patient as opposed to a facility that takes insurance which may discharge according to how many days the insurance plan will cover. We have the flexibility to keep a patient as long as medically necessary.
