Alcohol Withdrawal and Medically Supervised Alcohol Detox

When a heavy drinker stops consuming alcohol, their brain immediately experiences intense withdrawal. Without proper management, the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal may include: nausea, vomiting, headaches, body aches, hot and cold flashes, rapid pulse, anxiety, sleep disturbances, delirium, tremors, hallucinations and even seizures. At Palm Beach Detox and Wellness Institute, each patient is medically supervised during the alcohol detoxification ensuring the withdrawal process is safe and comfortable, minimizing the pain, discomfort and risk.

Understanding the Benefits of Hospital Based Alcohol Detox

While some programs offer an outpatient approach to alcohol detox, there is a much higher completion rate in inpatient programs. Additionally, we are able to offer 24-hour care to help ensure your comfort and safety. At Palm Beach Detox and Wellness, we have the ability to rapidly asses your condition and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan, if needed because of the hospital setting.

Identifying Underlying Medical Issues that Put You Into High-Risk Detox Level

Alcohol and drug use can have long term, harmful affects on the entire body. Because of this, in most cases there are co-occurring medical conditions that coincide with alcohol and drug abuse. These medical conditions often times aren’t revealed until the patient is abstinent. Receiving detoxification treatment in a hospital-based medical environment, we have access to hospital grade support for varying conditions, being the safest place for any patient that could potentially have a high-risk detox. People that are at high risk for complications, have complex medical conditions, or are of older age can benefit from hospital-based detox. We have immediate availability of emergency services including the ICU, Cardiac Cath lab, IV fluids, and IV medications. We receive rapid results for blood and urine testing, EKG/cardiac monitoring and diagnostic imaging.

How long will the detox process take?

The length of time needed for detox is highly variable depending on several factors including what substance the patient is using, how long they have been using, and the quantity they are using. It can also vary based on any medical complications. We do not discharge any patient until the medical and wellness staff agrees that a patient is stable and ready. Because we are a private pay facility, the length of stay is determined by the progress of the patient as opposed to a facility that takes insurance which may discharge according to how many days the insurance plan will cover. We have the flexibility to keep a patient as long as medically necessary.

Do you offer holistic treatment options?

Yes we do offer holistic treatment care at our facility. Holistic treatment is widely used as complementary and alternative medicine practice in a wide variety of treatment facilities nationwide. We offer mindfulness meditation, acupuncture, energy healing, massage, and rollology just to name a few. Each patient will be able to select from a daily menu of services to fit their individual needs.

I don’t want anyone to find out I’m in detox. Is that a problem?

At Palm Beach Detox and Wellness, our facility caters to high profile individuals, such as business leaders, athletes and socialites. Discretion and patient privacy are of the utmost importance to our program. As a result, we understand the need for privacy during the detox process. Our Recovery and Wellness team members are trained to treat all of our patients with dignity, respect and discretion, and our facility is designed to help maintain your privacy.
